Candlelight Vigil of Hope and Healing

Each year, the Gateway Affiliate of Mothers Against Drunk Driving hosts a Candlelight Vigil of Hope and Healing.  It is a day to not only honor and
remembered the lives of those lost due to drunk driving, but it is also a day to celebrate their live as well.

The 2011 Candlelight Vigil of Hope and Healing was held on Saturday, December 3 at Christ Community Church.  With over 175 guests in attendance, MADD
Gateway celebrated the lives of those lost and injured.  Special guests included Kelly Karavousanos, Grief Services Manager from Baue Funeral Homes, who
spoke of having hope and that it is “ the feeling that the feeling you have isn’t permanent” from Gene Kerr.  We also had the choir and praise dancers from the
Greater Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church and Leonard Missionary Baptist Church who performed songs and dances of inspiration and uplifted the spirits
of those in attendance.  Janet Smith from the Jerusalem Baptist Church also performed a sonnet.  This year’s vigil was made possible by a generous grant from
the Employees Community Fund of Boeing St. Louis, and we thank all the volunteers who made this event possible!
