| Victim Services The Gateway Affiliate of Mothers Against Drunk Driving provides emotional support to those who have lost someone they love or someone they love has been injured due to a drunk driver. We provide Victim Services to nine counties that are part of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop C. These counties include St. Louis County, St. Louis City, St. Charles County, Jefferson County, Franklin County, Warren County, Lincoln County, Pike County and St. Francois County. MADD Gateway is excited to announce that we have once again been awarded a grant from the Employees Community Fund of Boeing St. Louis for our 2012 Victim Services. This grant will help cover funding for Victim Services projects held throughout the year to include Support Group, our Crime Victim's Rights Week project and our annual Candlelight Vigil of Hope and Healing. Because of the generosity of the Employees Community Fund of Boeing St. Louis and all the local area corporate and individuals donors, we are able to continue to provide these vital victim services to our victims at no charge to them. Click the link below to learn more about some of our events! Candlelight Vigil of Hope and Healing Crime Victims' Rights Week Project How MADD Gateway Affiliate's Victim Services can help you... Emotional Support MADD Gateway is fortunate to have one full-time Victim Advocate and approximately 15 volunteer Victim Advocates that can offer emotional support and provide information. Literature MADD Gateway has a wide selection of free brochures and information for victims of crashes that range from grief and bereavement issues to coping with injury and how to talk with teens and children about death and dying. Support Groups MADD Gateway hosts a monthly support group where you can meet other families who share similar experience. The support group is open to anyone who has been affected by impaired driving in any way. Just like the rest of MADD’s services, the support group is free. The Gateway Support Group meets every first Monday of each month excluding December (September support group is held on Tuesday, September 6 due to the holiday) as all victims are welcome that month to participate in the Candlelight vigil. The dates for 2012 are as follows: Monday, January 2 Monday, February 6 Monday, March 5 Monday, April 2 Monday, May 7 Monday, June 4 Monday, July 2 Monday, August 6 Tuesday, September 4 Monday, October 1 Monday, November 5 Financial Assistance If financial assistance is needed, a MADD Gateway Victim Advocate can assist you with filing a claim with Crime Victim's Compensation - a state administered fund designed to assist victims of all crimes. Some restrictions and limitations do apply. Criminal Justice System Support MADD Gateway Victim Advocates can serve as a liaison between crash victims and criminal justice professionals. MADD Gateway Victim Advocates can also accompany victims and their families to court hearings. Victim Impact Statements MADD Gateway Victim Advocates can assist victims in preparing a victim impact statement and statements to the court. Community Referrals MADD Gateway Advocates can provide a list of professional counselors and/or civil attorneys and other community resources. Talk Online MADD National hosts live Victim Support Forums and chats every Monday night at 7 p.m. CT and every Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. CT. These online gatherings provide opportunities for victims and family members share their insights, feelings and experiences in a safe, understanding environment.
